Aloha Airlines Flight 243 lost a large section of fuselage during its journey, exposing passengers to the elements at 24,000 ft. So what happened to them? "Aloha Airlines Flight 243 (IATA: AQ243, ICAO: AAH243) was a scheduled Aloha Airlines flight between Hilo and Honolulu in Hawaii. On April 28, 1988, a Boeing 737-297 serving the flight suffered extensive damage after an explosive decompression in flight, caused by part of the fuselage breaking due to poor maintenance and metal fatigue. The plane was able to land safely at Kahului Airport on Maui. The one fatality, flight attendant Clarabelle "C.B." Lansing, was ejected from the airplane. Another 65 passengers and crew were injured. The substantial damage inflicted by the decompression, the loss of one cabin crew member, and the safe landing of the aircraft established the incident as a significant event in the history of aviation, with far-reaching effects on aviation safety policies and procedures." Airplane etiquette is a tricky and shadowy sphere, full of pitfalls and confusion. But once you grasp its main do's and don'ts - like how you should behave depending on your seat or how you should treat your seatmates - air travel will immediately become as easy as pie! So, wanna be a polite passenger? There are a few basic rules. For example, one of the biggest no-no’s of air travel is bare feet. Have you ever seen someone going barefoot on an airplane? It's cringy and disgusting but even if we omit the topic of unpleasant odors, the airplane floor is extremely filthy! There's likely to be a lot of dirt left after previous passengers. So if your feet need some freedom, take off your shoes but at least leave your socks on. Or bring a pair of light slippers. #etiquette #planes #brightside Other videos you might like: The 15 Main Rules of Modern Etiquette 🤍 12 Unexpected Etiquette Rules from Around the World 🤍 13 Hygiene Things We Learnt to Do Wrong 🤍 TIMESTAMPS: Do not ask people to let you jump the security line 0:25 Do not ask strangers to look after your belongings 1:03 Be understanding if a security agent doesn't seem overly polite 1:37 Switching seats is a touchy topic 2:03 Do not grab seatbacks on your way to the lavatory 2:40 No bare feet on a plane! 3:22 Always try to store your bag over your seat 4:23 How airplane etiquette differs depending on your seat 5:02 Keep your conversations short 7:16 Do not crowd the baggage claim belt 8:03 Music by Epidemic Sound 🤍 Subscribe to Bright Side : 🤍 Our Social Media: Facebook: 🤍 Instagram: 🤍 5-Minute Crafts Youtube: 🤍 Stock materials (photos, footages and other): 🤍 🤍 🤍 For more videos and articles visit: 🤍
Many of us think flying is a great way to travel, but things can get dull if you wind up stuck on the tarmac waiting for takeoff. While you're sitting there wondering if it would’ve taken any longer just to drive, you might notice a little triangular sticker above your window. Only four windows on each plane are marked this way. Usually red or black, the decals are just large enough to spot if you're looking for them but easy enough to miss if you aren't. But why are they there? Is it part of a conspiracy? Well, it turns out the answer isn’t quite so dramatic but interesting nonetheless. Especially if you're a plane lover! Other videos you might like: Why Planes Don't Fly Over the Pacific Ocean 🤍 A Plane Lost Its Roof at 24,000 Feet But Managed to Land 🤍 Why No One Can Bring Liquids on a Plane 🤍 TIMESTAMPS: So what are those stickers ❓ 0:46 Hidden sleeping compartments 1:39 Loops on the wings ✈️ 3:35 Holes in the windows 5:07 The hidden handrail 6:33 A button to adjust your armrest ✋🏻 7:34 #plane #aviation #brightside SUMMARY: - If you look closely the next time you're on a plane, you'll realize that the triangles line up with the front and back edges of the aircraft's wings. - The sticker is there so that the flight attendants know at a glance which windows to look through. - Many airliners feature a hidden compartment where its exhausted crew can catch up on some much-needed sleep. - The exact placement of the room varies, but the crew’s quarters are usually found in a small windowless compartment directly above first class. - Larger planes can feature up to ten bunks, as well as a separate pilot’s quarters directly above the cockpit. - If you’re flying in a jet made by Airbus, you might’ve noticed a pair of little yellow loops sticking up from the otherwise smooth, white surface of the plane's wing. - A plane's wings need to be smooth so that they remain aerodynamic, but that makes them pretty difficult to stand on. - Thanks to this fabulous technological breakthrough, evacuating passengers need not worry about an unfortunate tumble down the aircraft’s wings. - Airliners need to maintain internal pressure for the passengers to be able to breathe comfortably at high altitudes. - This tiny opening is known as a breather hole and plays a vital role in keeping you flying. - Most airliners flying today feature a handrail running the length of the overhead compartments. Their primary function is so that the crew can safely move about the cabin during turbulence. - The most common complaint people have with air travel is the lack of space. Even if you aren't particularly tall, you've probably experienced this for yourself. - If you're in the middle seat, well, you're just going to have to deal with getting the worst of both worlds. - Feel around on the bottom of the armrest, and you’ll find a little button near the hinge. Press it, and you're free to move that pesky armrest out of your way. - This gives you plenty of room to move around, and is a big help when you’re trying to get your bag from the overhead compartment at the end of your flight. The plane had been in the air for a mere 25 seconds when the pilots noticed weird noises and vibrations. They tried several ways to improve the situation, but nothing worked. And just over a minute into the flight, when the plane reached 3,000 feet, both engines failed: first, the right one; two seconds later, the left one. It seemed like only a miracle could save the passengers. And then, one of the passengers came to the rescue. See the video transcription here: 🤍 #brightside Animation is created by Bright Side. You probably aren’t the only one looking to pull the ol’ switcharoo. Even if just a few passengers do it, they could throw the plane off balance! And since most aircraft are incredibly sensitive to changes in their center of gravity, it can lead to dramatic consequences. During takeoff, pilots must know the distribution of weight on the plane to make exact calculations. If these calculations are off even the slightest, there are chances that the aircraft can crash while leaving the ground. So before nestling in a more comfortable or spacious spot, ask a cabin crew member if you're allowed to do so. That's why only able-bodied adults can occupy such seats. - Follow cabin crew instructions to open window shades during takeoff and landing. This way, flight attendants can see what's happening outside. - Fly non-stop without connections if you can. An overwhelming majority of plane crashes happen during the first 3 and last 8 minutes of the flight. - Wearing proper clothing will reduce your risks during air travel. Try to wear clothes made of natural fibers such as wool, cotton, leather, and denim. - Prepare a "run kit" and make sure it's with you at all times. Such a kit should contain your passport, wallet, cell phone, credit cards and cash, any necessary medications, and a list of emergency contacts. - Don't stuff heavy objects into overhead lockers. They can fall out during severe turbulence and injure you or other passengers. - If you see some suspicious activity or strange-looking packages, immediately inform the cabin crew. - It might be a waste of time to look for the safest seat on the plane because it probably doesn’t exist. We’ve all heard it said that traveling by air is safe. Statistics more than back up this claim. However, there are still some people out there who are absolutely terrified of flying. So terrified in fact, that some people go through some major anxiety attacks just thinking of the possibility of hoping on a plane. Are you one of these people and are you about to go on a trip somewhere? Then you’ve come to the right place. Although we won’t claim to be able to rid you of your flight anxiety, we just might be able to reduce it a bit. These are 25 Reasons Why Fear Of Flying Is Plane Silly (see what we did there, fear of flying…plane silly). Follow us on: Twitter: 🤍 Facebook: 🤍 Website: 🤍 Instagram: 🤍 Pinterest: 🤍 See, flying is not so scary when you are aware of these facts and statistics: First of all, there are more than 10,000 planes in the air right now There are about 100,000 passenger flights scheduled every single day That's not even counting military, cargo, air taxis, and general aviation According to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, in the United States alone 1.73 million people boarded flights every single day in 2010 Actually, flying is by far the safest form of travel You are 22 times more likely to be in an accident on the way to the airport in your car than you are during your flight Actually, if you do die on an airplane, it's more likely that you'll die of a heart attack or even choking on your food than falling out of the sky To be honest, even walking is more dangerous. According to the National Safety Council walking is one of the most dangerous modes of transport in terms of fatal accidents Going back to driving and car accidents, how often do you inspect your car? If ever? Well, planes are inspected constantly. After every single flight. Turbulence is actually not dangerous. Planes are no more likely to fall from the sky during heavy turbulence than in otherwise normal conditions And lightning strikes? Most airliners get hit on average every couple years but you wouldn't even know it. Actually, you're more likely to die getting hit by lightning on your way to get into your car to go to the airport To really blow your mind, you have a greater chance of dying by falling out of your bed Ok, let's put it this way, every year hippos kill more people than planes do In 2013 three billion people flew on airplanes. That's half the world's population. There were only 210 fatalities As humans, we tend to remember the catastrophes and forget everything else, so our memories are very biased Consider that most accidents happen during takeoff and landing. And the vast majority of those accidents are anything but fatal. Furthermore, consider that planes are lining up in front of you and behind you to takeoff The runway you are on has most likely seen constant use since its construction without a single accident Your pilot and copilot and entire flight staff have flown most of their careers and will continue flying for the rest of their careers The reason that these statistics will not make you feel any better is because your brain will release stress hormones as soon as you feel that little bit of turbulence And you will quickly forget these statistics. But you know what? We'll try one more anyway. You probably think that when you get in a car crash you have a good chance of surviving but as soon as the plane starts going down you're doomed right? Wrong. Even if you do somehow manage to get in a plane crash (you won't), you will almost certainly survive. Between 1993 and 2000 there were 568 plane crashes in the US involving 53,487 people. 51,207 survived. Actually, even on the worst 26 crashes, more than half of the passengers survived. See? We told you that your fear was just plane silly. It ends with a solution to make your trip a bit more comfortable and enjoyable. If there is one engine running, it is the APU, the Auxillary Power Unit. This is a small turbine engine which is normally mounted in the tail and it provides electrical power during the preflight and it also provides pressurized air for the air conditioning and heating system. Nowadays, a lot of company’s ( and sometimes even airports) have restricted the use of APU until a specific time. This is done due to the relatively high fuel consumption and noise. For the people who want to know, the apu uses around 109 kg of fuel per hour. This means that within these company’s or airports, under normal circumstances, the apu may only be operated from the moment the loadsheet arrives. Until that time there is a random uncontrolled temperature in the cabin, which can be freezing cold or sauna hot. Of course the pilots can still decide to operate the APU when the temperature is not human anymore as it says ‘under normal circumstances’. ★☆★★☆★★☆★★☆★★☆★ ▼ MY PERSONAL COCKPIT ITEMS ▼ The items I take with me on duty: My Headset: 🤍 My Sunglasses: 🤍 My Pilot Bag: 🤍 All other cockpit gear I use: 🤍 ▼ MY VIDEO GEAR ▼ The gear I use to record my videos: My Vlogging Camera: 🤍 My Action Camera: 🤍 My Drone: 🤍 All other gear I use: 🤍 ★☆★★☆★★☆★★☆★★☆★ F A C E B O O K: 🤍 T W I T T E R: 🤍 P A T R E O N: 🤍
Ever wonder how much the actual airline pilot is flying you airplane or do the pilots even fly the plane now? Often people assume the auto pilot does most of the flying and on an aircraft like a Boeing 747 which does really long flights the auto pilot does most of the flying but in this video I explain when the pilots decide to fly and often when the rules dictate the auto pilot be on. Here’s why I choose to fly 🤍ryanair🫣 People love to hate on Ryanair but honestly how can you complain about a €10 or €20 ticket? Even if they’re more expensive, let’s say €100, odds are their competitors will be at least 2 to 3 times more. There’s no way I am paying that much more for a free bottle of water and the ability to say I don’t fly Ryanair😂🤦♂️ In most cases, I can add an extra legroom seat, a meal, airport priority, and still pay less than I would to fly their full-service competitors. As someone who grew up in a secondary city, I am also really grateful for Ryanair because they opened up a ton of routes that wouldn’t have been operated by any other airlines. They, more than any other European airline, contribute to connecting this part of the world🇪🇺 If you are one of those people who refuses to fly Ryanair (but not just because of pride), I’d love to hear why in the comments🤓 #ryanair #loveryanair #hateryanair #lowcost #cheap #flying #travel #budgettravel #europetravel #europebudgettravel #eutrip #airlines #airline #airplane

the rolling stones - who's driving your plane? - processed 'stereo' Edit for headphones. Dubbed video. (Performance in the Beacon Theatre, New York.) This song was released as B side single to "Have You Seen Your Mother, Baby, Standing in the Shadow?" in both the US and the UK in September 1966. However, its US title was "Who's driving My plane". The song was in my list of "worst"... but I'm beginning to like it. Released on the UK album "No Stone Unturned", October 1973. Harmonica: Brian Jones. Electric guitars: Brian Jones & Keith Richards. Vocals: Mick Jagger. Piano: Jack Nitzsche. Drums: Charlie Watts. Bass: Bill Wyman. WHO'S DRIVING YOUR PLANE? (Jagger/Richards) it was your father who trained you and your mother who brained you to be so useless and shy but I just replaced them and tried not to break them because you could stand up if you tried and I wanna see your face when your knees and your legs are just gonna break down and die and, who's driving your plane? who's driving your plane? who's driving your plane? who's driving your plane? are you in control or is it driving you insane? if I could wave a magic wand, then maybe you'd change back to bein' a blonde and your skirt would come down, it would cover your feet! if I said, "It's not camp to wear Tiffany lamps" you'd be thrown right out in the street and I wonder who's driving your plane? who's driving your plane? who's driving your plane? who's driving your plane? are you in control or is it driving you insane? you could stand on your head or maybe sing in bed if I said it was the thing to do if you're in with the faces and their getaway places 'cause they don't take no notice of you well, the trendy pace-setters will just called you a pain 'cause I want to know, who's driving your plane ®© UMG ®© ABKCO Music and Records, Inc. ®© Decca Music Group Ltd. Most trips start at the airport and there are many aspects that travelers have to take into consideration, starting from baggage drop-off and up to border control. Today we decided to share some time-tested advice from experienced travelers and reveal what items you shouldn’t take to the airport so you don’t spoil your trip right at the very beginning. Did you know, for example, that no sports equipment is allowed onboard, be it a fencing foil, a bat, or even darts? Darts are sharp, and sharp objects aren’t allowed on board. The same applies to bowling pins. The security services claim it can be used as a club, which can be dangerous. Or possibly the air crew doesn’t want anyone having fun in the aisle during a long and boring flight! 📗📗📗GET MY NEW BOOK 🤍 📗📗📗 INSTAGRAM FLYWITHCAPTAINJOE: 🤍 MY WEBSITE: 🤍 Did you know that it is safer to get hit by lightning in a plane compared to standing on a golf course? When a plane gets hit by lightning during flight, a physics phenomenon applies called the Faraday Cage. Meaning the lightning will flow around the aircraft and not enter it. If you get hit by lightning on a golf course, you just took your last shot! I hope you enjoyed this video and learned a little aviation fact for today! More to come tomorrow! My name is Sky. I’m 17. I’ve never had to pay to fly somewhere on a plane. And I’ll never have to. I can fly to any place in the world for free. How am I able to do that? You will find out when you hear my story. When my mom was pregnant with me, my parents were living in Africa because my dad was working there. My mom wanted to give birth in her home country. She decided to go back home a month before her due date. My dad would take some time off from work and join her there two weeks later. You might not know this but the airline companies have a rule. You can’t get on a plane if you’re over 36 weeks pregnant. My mom 35 weeks, or 8 months pregnant at the time, so she was able to get on her flight without any issues.
